• Keypad dead after lightning or a power flicker, especially on Elite SL-3000 series openers. Prosper sits in a part of North Texas that gets real lightning, and the Elite SL-3000’s keypad wiring runs low on the post where water pools after a hard rain. What happens is the keypad’s membrane gets moisture behind it, shorts a row of buttons, and the control board’s keypad input reads a stuck key. The board then ignores all keypad commands. We pull the keypad, dry the harness, replace the membrane pad if it’s rotted, and the board almost always takes the code again. Cheaper than a board swap, which is what the factory would have you do.
• Remote worked, then didn’t, and the keypad still opens fine on the Elite CSL-24V. That’s the receiver daughterboard, and on the CSL-24V it sits right next to the antenna terminal. Solder joints crack from heat cycling over ten or twelve Texas summers. We reflow the board on site, or drop in a quality aftermarket receiver that matches the Elite frequency, and you’re back without replacing the control board itself. The board’s usually fine.
• Phone entry system won’t dial out on an older Elite system wired to a landline. Didn’t think we’d say “landline” in 2026, but plenty of Prosper homes still have one. The Elite phone entry relay is picky about line voltage. If the phone line is weak or goes through a fiber converter box, the relay won’t trip. We test with a line simulator, then either wire a cellular dialer in place or adjust the relay sensitivity if the board allows it. No reason to rip out a working entry system over a three-dollar relay.
• Card reader reads the card, beeps, and does nothing on a swing gate with an Elite MiMoto control panel. That’s almost always an input that was never terminated properly, or a card database full of old codes. We clear the old cards, verify the input is set to card reader mode not keypad mode, and it works. Simple, but you’d be surprised how often a previous installer just left it half-commissioned.
• Intercom video feed is black at night but fine during the day on an Elite video intercom. The IR cut filter gets stuck and the camera’s night LEDs burn out from direct afternoon sun hitting the lens, which is common on west-facing gates around Gentle Creek. We replace the camera module only. You don’t need a new panel.
